Giving back to the Community.
Since December 2013, we've been running our "Cheers to Charity!" Donation Program, which gives back to our amazing local community.
Formerly donations were made from our Sample Flights, but with Flights being off the cards for a little while yet, we've had to make a slight change to our CTC program. But the good news is, that it's back.
New! CTC Tap
As of September 1st, 2020 we are launching a rotating Cheers to Charity tap in our Tasting Room, to ensure that once again you'll be able to support a local cause by enjoying an FBC brew - with all profits going to a deserving local recipient.
We'll be kicking things off with the East Kootenay Foundation for Health (EKFH), who are raising funds for the installation of a new Ultrasound Service at the Elk Valley Hospital. They have a $300,000 goal, with Teck matching donations up to $50,000 until the end of the month. So, come and join us for a cold beer - all while supporting this amazing initiative for the Elk Valley.
The program was set up as a way of giving back. Here at Fernie Brewing Co., we are so fortunate to do business in the Elk Valley and so wanted to find a way of giving back to our local community.
Due to the large number of requests FBC receives each year for monetary, and other, donations, as a way of being able to commit to larger donation amounts, Cheers to Charity was created.
There are four main requirements of FBC’s Cheers to Charity Program:
- Donations must directly benefit our local Fernie community
- Benefit a group, as opposed to an individual or a team - recipients can be registered charities, clubs or organizations.
- Recipients must be of legal drinking age
- Requesting funding to help programs, which without support, would not be able to operate
Hopeful recipients need to apply via our Contact Page, explaining full details of their fundraising, and where exactly the funds will go. Recipients are chosen based on the season, their cause and their appropriateness to FBC’s mandate.
Our most recent recipient was Angel Flight East Kootenay whom received a cheque for $5,181.00 bringing our "Cheers to Charity!" donations to date, to $149,105.33. With some of our past recipients being Old Type Music Society, Fernie Friends of Refugees, Harvey Hut Rebuild, Fernie Community Fund, Fernie Snowmobile Association, WildSafe BC, Fernie Flow Trail, Fernie Friends for Friends, the BC wildfire efforts through the Red Cross, the Fernie Pets Society, Fernie's stoke folk band Shred Kelly, Fernie Nordic Society, F.I.R.E. Fernie Adaptive Ski Program, Wapiti Music Festival and The Fernie Trails & Ski Touring Club to name but a few...
